Our Kids

After trying for 2 1/2 years to have a baby, late summer 2006, we decided that our Emma, our spoiled rotten furbaby, would be our only baby, and to accept life the way it was. On December 29, two days after our third anniversary, we got a blessing - Emma was going to become a big sister.

Austin Phillip was born August 20, 2007, becoming grandchild number four, bringing the total to a girl and three boys. Brian had always liked the name Austin and we wanted a family name, picking Phillip for my middle brother, Aaron Phillip. Austin is very much like his uncle, stubborn and hard headed :) He's also smart and curious and wants to know how things work. He's super friendly and out going. He already has a passion for musical instruments, just like his daddy. Let him loose in church and there's one place you will always find him - in the sanctuary checking out the piano, or drums, or guitars. We can't wait till he's old enough for children's choir since his constantly trying to sneak into adult choir practice.

We've always said that we asked God for one child, but if He chose to send us more, then we'd be grateful. We didn't realize how soon we'd be grateful. Abigail Jane, Miss Abbey as we call her, was born November 6, 2008. She could look more opposite from her brother having a head full of dark hair, and dark blue eyes. Four weeks old today, she has made her presence known in our family, and taught us how different two children can be. Like her brother, she's head strong. Unlike him, she does not want to be messed with - don't change her clothes or bathe her and she'll be just happy. Don't put her in a swing or bouncer, instead she prefers the couch, ottoman, or her bed. She's quick to smile after eating, her sign that she's fast asleep and will allow you to put her in her bed, not ours as Austin preferred.


We have been asked numerous times if our kids were planned especially since they are 14 months apart. Our response - our babies were planned and were very much wanted. We just didn't plan when we wanted them. We hold true to our original prayer - God, please send us one. If You decide to send more, we will be grateful.
